In September 2026, Free Armenian Prisoners published, for the first time in full in English, the indictment and judgment in the case of Ruben Vardanyan, making the documents available to the international legal and academic community for independent examination.

Following their publication, Siranush Sahakyan, Representative of Armenian Prisoners of War before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), called on legal professionals, scholars, and research institutions to subject the case to rigorous academic study and professional scrutiny.

In response to that call, Armenian news and information agency Pastinfo, together with international law expert Taron Simonyan, Founding Partner of ELL PARTNERSHIP, launched “Justice” According to Azerbaijan – a series examining the charges, the reasoning of the court, and the legal inconsistencies, contradictions, and procedural issues revealed by the case materials.

Free Armenian Prisoners presents this series to make these analyses available to a wider international audience and to contribute to the professional examination of the proceedings against Ruben Vardanyan.

The analyses are published in installments, addressing individual charges and provisions of law and comparing the conclusions reached by the Azerbaijani courts with the evidence and legal reasoning contained in the case materials.
