U.S. Representative Mike Carey Raises the Issue of Armenian Hostages Held in Azerbaijan at Congressional Hearing

U.S. Representative Mike Carey (R-OH) raised the issue of Armenian hostages held in Azerbaijan during a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on September 2.

The hearing, titled “Strategic Partnerships to Secure Critical Resources and Supply Chains,” focused on U.S. trade relationships and strategic partnerships, including developments in Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

During his remarks, Carey spoke about Armenia’s historical significance as the first nation to adopt Christianity before turning to the Armenian hostages who remain held in Baku, including former leaders of Artsakh.

His remarks brought the issue of the Armenian detainees into a congressional discussion focused on U.S. strategic and economic partnerships in the region.
