Evidence of
ethnic cleansing

Azerbaijan’s military attack against Nagorno-Karabakh and the forced displacement of nearly all of its Armenian population indisputably constitutes ethnic cleansing. This claim is supported by The Parliamentary Assembly for the Council of Europe, the French Senate, and members of the U.S. Congress. In October 2023, the European Parliament stated, “the ongoing forced exodus of the local Armenian population…amounts to ethnic cleansing”. Former US Ambassador at Large for War Crimes Issues, David Scheffer, also said that the Armenian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh are “experiencing an ethnic cleansing at warp speed”.

Human rights groups and advocates including Genocide Watch, The Lemkin Institute, The Save Karabakh Coalition, former ICC Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo, and Armenian organisations have also labelled the Azerbaijan actions as genocide, warning that it’s been going on since 2022.
